I just watched the first episode of Rain’s new drama My Lovable Girl (also called My Lovely Girl) and so far so good! This hour was mostly focused on setting up the premise, giving us a glimpse of the troubles faced by the lead characters. At this point the stage is set and now I’m anxious for more!
Here are some of my thoughts about episode one.
Rain is Gorgeous
Seriously, this man looks fantastic. I also love how they styled his character Lee Hyun Wook. So far, this has been a very easy show to watch. It’s been much too long since Rain’s been in a drama and now I can’t help but eat all his wonderful screen time up like candy!
Just look at this smile!
Krystal is Doing Well in Her Role
Krystal’s character Yoon Se Na is the younger sister of Hyun Wook’s girlfriend who died in the first scene of the drama. She’s left all alone and has trouble keeping a job because gangsters are hounding her to repay debts. She ends up spending much of this episode working at a hotel and taking care of Hyun Wook’s dog. She also has dreams of becoming a songwriter/singer. While down on her luck, her character still maintains a rather optimistic outlook.
The Chemistry is Good
While the show has only just begun, I am looking forward to seeing these two develop their relationship. The 12 age difference didn’t bother me at all, mostly because neither one looks their actual age. I swear, Rain looks like he aged backwards!
This Dog is the True Star
So cute!
But even more adorable is the bond between the dog and Hyun Wook.
I may actually cry when Rain has to say his final goodbyes…
I Can’t Wait for More of Infinite Power
I admit, I’m a sucker for K-pop in dramas. I liked the glimpse we got of Infinite Power and I’m looking forward to digging into the band dynamics. Looks like L and Hoya have some issues to work out…
L Also Looks Gorgeous
A few months ago, I never would have thought L would be the one cast as the second lead against Rain, but now I am gather giddy about this dynamic! In addition, I’m not going to say no about having another beautiful main character.
Hyun Wook’s Past is Going to Haunt Him
I have a feeling we’ll be dealing with his pain for most of this drama. How will Se Na help him find healing? Something tells me that the combination of music and love is the answer…
In Conclusion
I like it! It’s cute and the characters are very likable. I’m ready for more and I can’t wait to see what comes next in the story. Hyun Wook finally knows Se Na’s true identity and he’s all set to step in and give her a helping hand. I just hope he doesn’t keep it a secret from Se Na that he dated her sister. Is it too much to hope that that will get resolved early on?
Did you watch the first episode of My Lovable Girl? What did you think of it? Please share your thoughts below!
