Makeup Monday: Get Gong Hyo Jin’s Look!

Makeup Monday Gong Hyo Jin

This week for Makeup Monday I will be featuring Gong Hyo Jin, the beautiful and lovable star of popular dramas such as The Master’s Sun and The Greatest Love. Gong Hyo Jin is one of my favorite Korean actresses because, besides being gorgeous, she is unbelievably talented! Today we will look at three makeup looks Gong Hyo Jin has sported. From natural to dramatic high fashion looks, there’s something for everyone and I’ll show you how to get them on a budget!

Look #1

This first look is a beautiful and natural look that is super easy to achieve! For the eyes, take a black liquid liner (I’d recommend this felt tip L’Oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black liner because it is easy to use and is super black) and line your upper lash line from inner to outer corner. Then create a small cat eye by following the direction/curve of your lower lash line and extending that line with the liquid liner. Then meet the end point of your line with an extension of the line from your upper lash line, forming a little triangle. Fill in any empty space and you are done! You don’t want a very dramatic or upturned cat eye – just a subtle one to make your eyes appear wider. Apply a good black mascara like the Revlon Lash Potion to your top and bottom lashes and you are finished with the eyes!

Also be sure to fill in your brows to make them a little more prominent. Using a brow pencil like this Prestige one, make short hair like strokes, filling in any bare spots in your brows and redefining them to be the same width all the way across like Gong Hyo Jin’s. Then use a brow gel like this one, set your brows in place!

To get Gong Hyo Jin’s beautiful pink lips, look for a medium cool toned pink. A few I would suggest are the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart (may be a bit brighter that what Gong Hyo Jin is wearing), the Maybelline Color Sensational Color Whisper in Pink Possibilities, or if you’re willing to spend a bit more money, try the CK One Color Shine Lipstick in Frenzy.

Look #2

Gong Hyo Jin’s eye look in these photos from High Cut is very simple. Sweep a light sandy brown shadow on your lids and along your lower lash line. Try this one by Milani in Bella Sand. Then take a black pencil liner or gel/liquid liner on a flat eyeliner brush and tightline your upper lash line to make your lashes appear thicker and fuller without heavily lining your eyes. Here is a tutorial on how to tightline if you have never done it before. Apply mascara to your upper lashes and you are done with the eyes!

For the look above, the shinning star is really Gong Hyo Jin’s lipstick which is a vibrant dark hot pink. This is a hard color to match and the closest I was able to find is the Lime Crime Velvetine in Pink Velvet. It is a little pricy at $20, but pigmented and vibrant colors such as these typically cost a little more. It’s a truly unique and beautiful color that will make a statement!

Look #3

It’s not often that we see Korean actresses in such edgy and sultry shoots like this one! And Gong Hyo Jin looks striking. She totally pulls of the biker chic look.

To get her smokey eyeshadow look, first apply an eyeshadow primer all over your lids to keep the shadows in place and help intensify the colors. I like the NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base for a good affordable option. Then using a palette like this one which has at least a black, medium brown, and light color, begin by applying the light color on the inner corner and under the brown bone. Then taken the medium brown and blend it into and slightly above your crease using a fluffy dome brush like this one. Then pat the black into the outer corner of the eye, blending it with the fluffy brush to buff out any harsh lines. Apply the brown color along the lower lash line and add a little black to the outer edge. Tightline your eyes as described in Look #2 and line your water line with a black pencil liner as well. Then curl your lashes and apply mascara. Also, don’t forget to fill in your eyebrows!

Gong Hyo Jin is wearing a neutral nude color on her lips to balance out the dark sultry eyes. Try this one by Maybelline in Nude Lust or this one from the Rimmel Kate Moss Collection in 014. However, keep in mind that the right nude for you will depend on your skin tone and the pigmentation of your lips. So you may need to try out a few different ones to see what will work best for you.
