Heirs 17 & 18: What I’m Watching Wednesday

This is it! The final 2 episodes of Heirs air today and tomorrow. I can’t believe we’ve finally reached the end- it’s really been quite the journey! This has certainly been a unique watching experience for me. Since starting this blog, Heirs is the first show that I’ll have covered from start to finish.

I must say that I’ve enjoyed this method. Before, I never really liked watching shows as they aired- the wait was just too much to bear! With blogging however, the wait is a blessing. It gives me time to compose my thoughts and respond in a variety of ways. It is also great fun to check out other blogs that talk about the same show. It all just makes the drama watching experience that much better!

This week I watched Pretty Man and Heirs . While Heirs has a special place in my heart, Pretty Man was much more enjoyable to watch. I think the light-heartedness was a welcome relief from the abundant drama in Heirs. I’ll post a longer Pretty Man review later this week!

Watched: Heirs  Episodes 17 & 18

To be honest, I really didn’t enjoy the majority of these two episodes. We reverted back to the excessive moping and long stares that I have been complaining about since the beginning. I had been very pleased with the direction of the show throughout episodes 12-16, but I wasn’t so impressed this time around.

Why? Here’s Why.

Tan is a mess. He’s completely breaking down without Eun Sang, but it takes him a long time to do much about it!

It made me frustrated to watch Young Do take action while Tan just moped and pined. He manages to track Eun Sang down, but what good does it do for him? He ends up just staring at her on the beach! Come on, Tan!

I wasn’t impressed by Tan’s  “Woe is me. Everything I’ve touched has turned rotten. I know! I’ll just restore everything to how it was before. NO PROBLEM AT ALL.”

No. Not OK Tan.

There was also too much self harm in these episodes.

I felt bad for Tan, but I was also just anxiously waiting for this little rebellion to end.

Side Note: Did Tan really sustain these face injuries from the temper tantrum in his room!? That’s just silly.

I thought the resolution to this mopey conflict was also rather lackluster.

But at least it got resolved.

Tan and Eun Sang are best when they are their cheery, cheeky selves.

Young Do once again stole the show for me.

His diehard dedication to Eun Sang,

uniquely hilarious problem solving methods,

and increasing helpfulness to Tan made up my favorite parts of 17 and 18.

Big Brother

Such the good (reluctant) friend.

Let’s talk about this AMAZING scene. Young Do encounters Tan’s mom and quickly realizes something is seriously wrong. Thanks to some quick thinking and fast running, Young Do manages to reunite Tan with his mother before it’s too late.

The incredible full-circle completeness of this was so satisfyingly heartbreaking.

Why can’t all the writing in Heirs be as good as this moment?

Now onto the home stretch! I’m excited, but also nervous for what is to come. I want it to be epic, hell I’ll even settle for great/good, but based on Heirs’ track record, I can’t guarantee this will be the case.

I’m going to be optimistic. Heirs, I’m rooting for you!

Let’s not even talk about the serious Lee Min Ho/ Kim Woo Bin withdrawal that will hit after tomorrow.

It’s going to be really bad.

  1. Oh my gosh, you and I are on the same page about everything! Also, how did Tan manage to steal Young Do’s shearling trench coat? The minute I saw Tan’s chin wrapped in fluff I was like, WTF! Have they been hanging out behind my back?! Also Young Do IS the show for me now. Every time he is on screen I forget everyone else is there. He might as well be in a scene with a tuna sandwich. I will miss him so, but I am relieved that Heirs will be over soon. I am ready for my man to play an Alpha. With a touch of psychosis. What can I say, it works for him 😉

  2. I can’t wait for Kim Woo Bin to get a leading role. I’m sure it won’t be long- he’s starting to get the recognition he deserves! He also does a super amazing job in Friend 2! I’m really excited for his future acting projects. Thanks for reading! It’s always nice to hear someone agrees with me!
