Now that Heirs is over I’m gearing up for the next drama that will be taking over its Wednesday/Thursday time slot. Man From the Stars (also known as You Who Came From the Stars) will feature Jun Ji Hyun in her return to the small screen after a 14 year gap. She’s been very active in movies, including big hits like My Sassy Girl, The Berlin File, and The Thieves. I’m anxious to see why she decided on this project. You don’t just go back to dramas without a good reason and I’m optimistic that Man From the Stars will be a worthy show to watch.
Staring opposite of Jun Ji Hyun is one of my favorite Korean actors, Kim Soo Hyun. You may have seen him in Dream High, Moon Embracing the Sun, or the movie Secretly Greatly. He’s become quite the popular star!
While doing my research about the cast, I found that Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun have already starred in a project together. Both of them participated in the 2012 blockbuster hit The Thieves and they even had a bit of a love line!
The Thieves is a heist movie that mixes together romance, comedy, and tons of action to create a highly enjoyable film.
I decided to check out their onscreen chemistry to properly prepare for the premiere this week. I must say, I was more than pleased! Their scenes, while brief, made me very excited to see them star together in this new drama.
Jun Ji Hyun plays the bad-ass burglar Yenicall whose specialty involves wire-work. While the movie features a large cast of talented thieves, Yenicall shines particularly bright due to her sass and blasé attitude. Jun Ji Hyun’s antics and great action scenes kept me wanting more.
Kim Soo Hyun’s character Zampano has a major crush on this wire-flying heroine. He’s the wire-man who is in charge of Yenicall’s safety when she is on a job. While young, he is rather certain in his dedication for Yenicall, making for a super adorable puppy-like love line.
There are a couple notable “romanctic” scenes that occur between these two, each one reinforcing in my mind that Man From the Stars will play host to some great chemistry!
At one point, Yenicall walks into Zampano’s room to find him working out (shirtless!). Things heat up really quick when he approaches her and gives her an absolutely stunning kiss.
If this is any indication of what is to come, I think I’ll be a very happy camper with Man From the Star’s romance!
You know a kiss is good when the actress’ own husband hates the scene.
If you haven’t seen The Thieves, I highly recommend you check it out. It’s fast-paced with many intersecting plots centered around a particular heist. The characters each bring something unique to the film. I may have starting watching for Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun, but the entire movie was great. I can see why it was such a big hit!
You can watch it over at gooddrama.net. It’s the perfect movie to watch while waiting for Man From the Stars episodes!
Heads up, I am going to be covering Man From the Stars over at Soompi starting this week. Be sure to keep an eye out for my recaps and reviews! I’ll post links to them here on my blog in the near future.
Are you excited for Man From the Stars to start? I know I am!

Oh my gosh, SO stoked for this drama tonight, I can’t stand it.
Same! I watched for Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun but then, I enjoyed watching the other characters too. Though I was very upset when Kim Soo Hyun departed earlier from the movie than the rest 😦
Actually, I notice that the director of the movie THE THIEVES was regretful for departed kim soo hyun earlier in the movie specially when he see that feedback of the kiss scene of YENICALL and ZAMPONG. I guess if he didn’t let kim soo hyun departed in the movie maybe his movie will hit a highest rate than to the original rate of the movie.
i’m so disappointed when zampano(kim soo hyun) departed earlier in the move . It sucks!! 😦
you are is the best kim soo hyiun i love you
i’m so happy if kim soo hyiun came in indonesia
