I’ve been watching a string of older dramas recently to help recover from my Man from the Stars withdrawal. Rather than trying to keep up with the new shows, I’ve been spending some quality time with shows I had overlooked in the past.
9 End 2 Outs really impressed me. Not only was it hilarious with fantastic chemistry, but it also allowed me to revisit some of my favorite drama tropes! It was wonderful to reminded why I feel in love with Korean dramas in the first place.
In honor of this realization, I have assembled the following list using scenes from 9 End 2 Outs.
Any fan of K-dramas should agree!
No classic Korean drama is complete without:
An epic back hug.
Multiple soju tent scenes.
(Bonus points if the Han River is in the background)
A love triangle.
Well it’s technically a love square, but no one really cares about the bitchy second lead girl.
Drunk taxi rides.
Goofy bonding activities.
Almost being caught somewhere you shouldn’t be.
A romantic getaway.
Newfound feelings are a must!
An opinionated mother.
Cell phones helping to drive plot developments.
A friendly fist fight over a girl.
Standing on the roof of a building.
A likable and adorable second lead.
But no matter how cute, you know he will never be “the one”.
A love shot!
A dramatic confession of love.
A kiss that you anxiously waited at least 15 hours for.
And of course, no classic K-Drama is complete without
Karaoke AND…
A piggyback ride!
Sadly I missed getting a screencap from 9 End 2 Outs so I asked Lee Minho to help us complete the list!
What are your favorite classic drama tropes? Please let me know! This list could go on to include 100s more!
Thanks for reading!
